Background to SiP 7

In SiP7 - Testing in child- and juvenile psychopathology, students acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the use of psychodiagnostic instruments, particularly the most commonly-used instruments used in science. The high vulnerability of (young) children with developmental disorders adds extra importance to students becoming proficient in accurately selecting and conducting tests, as well as doing multimodal assessments, i.e. a combination of several techniques. In child- and juvenile psychopathology, in particular, the diagnostic decision making process requires an interactive framework that takes the child-, school- and family factors into account related to the preservation of behavioural and learning problems (Pameijer & Van Beukering, 2004). This SiP is intended as an introduction to students who have little or no knowledge of child- and juvenile psychopathology.
